Testimonies
Gene’s Testimony and call to preach –
– July 3rd 1986 Bro. Rudy Smith
was preaching at teen camp on a Wednesday evening. For several
weeks I had been wrestling with the fact that I was lost and on
my way to Hell. I would lay in bed at night crying telling God
that if I was not saved that I wanted to be, but never admitting
I was lost. That night in July I couldn’t wait any longer. I
went forward and asked God to save me, a lost sinner.
Having preached as a young boy and then at
age 15 having to publicly confess that I was not saved, I had
great difficulty with my call to preach. I did not want to be a
show as some that I would see come through the camp. If I was
going to preach I wanted to mean business and know that was what
God wanted for me. As I was preparing the speech for my
graduation, the Lord began to impress on my heart a thought from
Philippians 3:14
I
press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God
in Christ Jesus. The thought to me at the time was, “what
greater call than to preach the gospel”. I believe that was when
the Lord sealed in my heart the call to preach.
Robin’s Testimony –
- I was saved at the age of 13, at the
church where my dad was pastor. The Lord had been dealing with
me for quite a while, that I was not saved, even though I had
made a profession as a young girl. I had been fighting against
going forward and letting people know that I was lost, being the
pastor’s kid, but that Sunday in March, I knew that was the last
time the Holy Spirit would deal with me about salvation. So I
went forward and my dad dealt with me, and I asked the Lord to
save me.
Call to the mission field - After
resigning from the pastorate I did not have any idea what God
wanted next. The first thing was to get a job to pay the bills,
and during this time seek the Lord’s guidance. After 7 months of
prayer, and several different opportunities for ministry the
Lord settled my heart with great peace that Honduras was where
he wanted us to be. One thing that I struggled with at the
beginning was the amount of time before we could actually be
where the Lord was leading us. Then He pressed my heart with
John 4 where Jesus was headed to Galilee from Jerusalem, but he
was not in such a hurry that he passed up the needy woman at the
well. Though it may take us a minimum of four years to reach our
destination, we have an opportunity to minister in many
different places on the way there.
Robin’s response to the call to Honduras -
I have a definite peace and surety that this is where God is
leading us as a family, and am thrilled to be able to follow and
be a help to Gene as the Lord continues to guide and direct us
through him. I am excited about getting to the field, and doing
the work that the Lord has for us there.

Our Doctrines and Beliefs
The Bible –
We use only the King James Version for
English
We use only the Reina Valera 1960 for
Spanish
The Local Church –
A local Church is a baptized body of
believers united in faith and practice, working together to
fulfill the Great Commission of reaching the world, both at home
and in the uttermost parts of the world.
Missions Giving - Currently the church we
are members of does not accept designated missions giving,
though they support 40+ missionaries through the General Fund.
In addition to that, we also support some missionaries
personally.
Hyper-Calvinism –
Pre-destinated Salvation is contrary to the
Scriptures, Romans 10: 13, II Peter 3:9
Baptism – Romans 6:3-5 Baptism is a
picture of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It is a
statement of faith in Christ Jesus, a testimony of a changed
life. Baptism has nothing to do with salvation, other than
being an outward testimony of an inward change.
Lord’s Supper – Matt. 26: 26-28, I Cor.
11:23-30
The Lord’s Supper is to be done in
remembrance of the death of Christ, His broken body, the bread,
His shed Blood, the juice.
Repentance – II Peter 3:9, Luke 5:32, Acts
3:19 Repentance is a change of direction, a person going their
own way, doing their own thing, headed towards Hell. Repentance
is a complete turn about, giving the heart and life to God, and
now headed for Heaven.
Ecumenicalism - Eph. 5:1-13 – As Bible
Believers, we cannot engage in spiritual endeavors with those
who deny the Word of God and the doctrines of the Bible.
Hell – Luke 16 teaches us that Hell is a
literal place of fire and torment where those who do not accept
Christ as their Saviour will spend eternity. The fire is not
quenched, and their worm dieth not. Mark 9:44
Heaven – John 14:1-4 Heaven is the abode
of God, Jesus has gone there to prepare a place, and will soon
return to take the saved there to spend eternity
Trinity – Matt. 28:19 – In the Great
Commission, Jesus, himself, named the persons of the Trinity,
though there are three distinct persons, They are One God.
Rapture – I Thess. 4:16-17 – The Rapture is
for the all the saved. It could take place at any time, it will
be before the Tribulation Period begins.
Eternal Security – John 10:27-28 – Once a
person has accepted Christ as their Saviour, nothing they or
anyone else can do, will cause them to lose their salvation.
